We believe

Botany Bay Community Church exists to glorify God through obedience to His will, to teach people about God, to care for people and to reach out with the love of God to people who do not know Him and do not have a personal relationship with Him. The principal beliefs of the members of Botany Bay Community Church are summarized in the following statements.

1. The Bible:

The sixty-six books comprising the Old and New Testaments are the complete Word of God.  The Bible is our final and sufficient authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. The Trinity:

There is one true God, eternally existing in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is sovereign, holy and loving.  God is the Creator, Ruler and Judge of the world.

3. The Lord Jesus Christ:

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only Son of God and was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He lived a sinless life on earth and died on behalf of all people, throughout all time.   He was raised from the dead by God the Father and through His death Jesus accepted the punishment for sin and secured righteousness, forgiveness and eternal life for anyone who trusts in Him.

5. The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit convicts people of their need for faith in Jesus.   When a person repents and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit dwells in them and gives them the power to live according to God’s will and equips them to serve God.

6. Sin:

Because every person is created in the image of God, they have personal worth as individuals.   However, the Bible teaches that every person, without exception, has rejected the authority of God.   As a result every person needs the salvation that only comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

7. Salvation:

Salvation is given by the grace and mercy of God the Father and is obtained only by personal repentance and faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ.

8. The Church:

There is one, holy, universal church which is the body of Jesus Christ and every person who has accepted God’s offer of salvation belongs to this church.

9.  Satan:  

Satan is a being who opposes God and His purposes.   Satan has been defeated by Jesus Christ and will ultimately be destroyed by God.

10.  The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ:

The Lord Jesus Christ will return to judge the world righteously and to bring the Kingdom of God to full realisation.
